So, its that time again, elections are soon upon us. The normal people saying ‘I don’t like politics I don’t even vote’ are out in their usual numbers. The problem is, not voting is giving up your say, you make those people who do vote voice louder. This election cycle we have a chance to take our country back from the fountain of billionaires and hate that is the republican party. We have a chance to end the party politics as usual. We have a chance to make a difference in the country we live in. If you are sick of business as usual politics you want to know about Bernie Sanders.
As some of you may know, Hillary is running for president, along with a veritable clown car full of republican candidates. The problem is any of them will just be the same old same old. Favors owed from back room deals to get in to office. It will be the same problem we have had for a long time. But there is hope. Bernie Sanders an Independent from Vermont has stepped up to the plate and is taking both parties on. Though he has been mostly shunned and blackballed from mainstream media he has an impressive following. His message is simple, and easy to understand. The 99% don’t have to live with the oppression of the 1%. We out number them, all we have to do is show up and vote. His message spans party lines spurring many to adopt the hashtag #VotePurple among the droves of other hashtags relating to him.
His position is very to the point. Make the wealthy pay their fair share, healthcare and education are a right. The drug war and foreign wars don’t work. Surveillance of the American people must stop. No more moving jobs over seas. Paid family leave and a living minimum wage. He believes women have the right to control their own bodies and everyone should be treated equally and judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin or sexual orientation. His message speaks to a vast array of people and his track record of supporting equality and standing by his word runs back to the 60s. Its a sight to see a 70 year old man stand up to the status-quo in front of crowds of 10,000 to 100,000. His campaign is run mostly online and through in person speaking engagements. He hasn’t taken money from the usual super-PACs and means of campaign financing.
This election season we have a chance to vote not for the lesser of two evils, but for once the greater good. Share his message with your friends, family, and coworkers. Every vote he gets in the primaries and in the general election is a vote towards a better tomorrow for the poor and middle class in America.
